Basement Sneak Peak

Monday, December 29th, 2008

I started a basement remodel this summer to clean up the dark and dingy basement and make it a place for the kids to play. As it seems all my projects go, what was supposed to be four walls of drywall and some paint turned into a complete overhaul. The goal of the entire project was to be completed by the time our second child was born. I am happy to say from a usable space point of view, I met that goal. The reason to be done by that date was two fold; give the kids a place to play and find a place for me to move my office to. The finished floor plan includes a very nice office, more on how I arrived there in a later post. For now I leave you with a small taste of the (almost) finished project. I have some doors that need installing and the built in cabinets need finishing. However it is already being used; as you can see by the toys.

Chimney Removal

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

I decided to tear out the Chimney in my house this weekend. I did not need it anymore since all my high efficiency appliances now vent out the back of the house through PVC pipe. I already removed the portion above the roof this spring after I discovered it was leaking.  The remaining 16ft of cinder block proved to be a little bit more difficult that the portion above the roof. Thanks Don and Deryll for the help!
